How does UW prioritize parking applications campus wide?
- Transportation Services uses a formula to integrate parking priorities for all Transportation Units. This priority formula is calculated based on the number of offers per Transportation Unit.
- More detailed information on this can be found here.
How does SOE prioritize parking applications?
SOE Facilities and the Unit Transportation Coordinator’s role is to connect SOE applicants with Transportation Services through the parking application process. SOE Building Services does not assign parking and cannot guarantee parking for any applicant. SOE Facilities aggregates applicant data in order to create a priority list, which is then sent to UW Transportation. Transportation then integrates all campus lists to create a global priority list from which it assigns parking. The formula SOE employs to calculate applicant points includes Years of Service, SoE Seniority, and Position Number: (Years of Service + SoE credit) * Position Number.
Departmental and School leadership may request consideration for applicants that have certain requirements or exceptional circumstances. These will be considered on a case-by-case basis through the Business Office and can be directed to buildingservices@education.wisc.edu. Examples of an exceptional circumstance include positions that frequently rely on the use of their personal vehicles to complete their work. They do not include disability accommodations, which are directed to education-hr.ddr@education.wisc.edu Please note that we cannot guarantee parking will be offered to any applicant.
Through the application of this system our goal is to provide a parking application process that:
- Is equitable, consistent, and transparent
- Recognizes seniority & the value of retention
- Accounts for exceptional circumstances
